Organizing Committee

Alexander Bartik
TU Wien
Alexander Bartik is a Senior Scientist and project group leader at the Institute of Chemical, Environmental and Bioscience Engineering within the Research Area of Fuel and Energy System Engineering. His research focuses on biomass and waste gasification, gas cleaning and the production of sustainable fuels and energy carriers in fluidized and fixed bed systems. Methodically, he combines experimental investigations at lab and pilot scale with modeling, process simulation, technology scale-up and techno-economic analyses.

Florian Benedikt
BOKU University
Florian Benedikt is an Assistant Professor at BOKU University, Vienna, Austria, where he also serves as Deputy Head of the Institute of Chemical and Energy Engineering. He leads the research group Sustainable Fuel Conversion Technologies. His research focuses on fluidized bed reactor systems, thermochemical conversion of biomass and residual materials, and the electrification of high-temperature processes. His work includes the development and experimental investigation of advanced fluidized bed technologies for renewable gas production and sustainable energy systems.

Thomas Karl Hannl
BOKU University
Thomas Karl Hannl, PhD is Senior Scientist at the BOKU University in Vienna, Austria and Senior Researcher at the research institution BEST - Bioenergy and Sustainable Technologies GmbH in Graz/Vienna, Austria. He received his doctoral degree in the field of energy engineering from Luleå University of Technology, Sweden. At BOKU University and BEST he leads the research groups of ”Feedstock & Process Design” for thermochemical conversion of alternative biogenic and non-biogenic feedstocks with an emphasis on fluidized bed gasification operations. His research work focuses on fluidized bed systems, feedstock technology, thermodynamic modeling, and the development of biorefinery and chemical recycling processes up to demo-scale validation.

Christoph Pfeifer
BOKU University
Christoph Pfeifer hold since 2013 the Professorship for Process Technology of Renewable Resources at BOKU University, Vienna, Austria, where he also serves as Vice Rector for Research and Innovation. His research focuses on thermochemical conversion of biomass and waste (gasification, pyrolysis and hydrothermal carbonization) with a special focus on production and utilization routes of biochar/hydrochar. His work includes development and experimental verification of fluidized bed reactor systems.

Franz Winter
TU Wien
Franz Winter is full Professor at TU Wien and heading the Research Group of Thermochemical Process Engineering at the Institute of Chemical, Environmental and Bioscience Engineering.
His research combines multi-phase fluid dynamics, mass- and heat transfer, chemical reactions and kinetics for reactor & process design and optimization.
Prof. Franz Winter is bridging fundamental research with industrial application. He is active in the areas of chemical process engineering, energy and environmental technology using primary as well as secondary resources up to high temperatures and pressures.

Heinz Krebs
ChemIT e.U.
Heinz graduated from TU Wien, specializing in the field of organic synthesis chemistry. In addition to his ongoing employment at TU Wien he is running an IT-based company which specializes (among other things) in the organization of scientific conferences. Since 1999 he managed (or contributed to) more than 30 conferences in Austria, Germany and Italy.
